Job Security and the Tanker Test

With a population that will consistently grow every year so will the business and employment opportunities over time as well. The trucking industry already employs two to three million drivers or more depending on how you want to classify the different types of trucking jobs. With so many different types of truck driver jobs it would be wise for a truck driver who job is hunting for a job to put himself in a position to have more jobs to choose from.

In order for a truck driver to drive different types of vehicles with a class A CDL license a driver will need the proper endorsements to drive that specific type of vehicle. To drive a tanker truck a truck driver will need to have his tank vehicles endorsement on his commercial drivers license. A driver looking for a truck driver job in the paper will have more jobs to choose from, if he already has passed the Tanker Endoresement Test, doubles and triples test, and has a hazardous endorsement than a driver that does not have these endorsements.

To get a tanker endorsement a truck driver will have to study for and then pass the tanker test at the department of motor vehicles. This involves getting a CDL study guide and reading the tank vehicles section a few times to learn this information. After reading the manual he can find a good tanker test online for free and practice the test questions until he knows that he is ready for the real Tanker Endoresement Test at the DMV. There could be a big payoff here in the long run for very little time invested passing a few simple endorsement tests. Get your tanker endorsement and increase your earning potential as well as adding the doubles and triples and a hazmat endorsement.

It all boils down to having the ability to drive as many different types of commercial vehicles as possible. The more you are legally licensed to drive the more job security you will have as well as better wages and benefits than a driver with just a regular CDL license with no endorsements. To have the best chance at getting a job you will want to be able to answer yes, when asked if you have specific endorsements on your CDL license rather than, no but I can go get one.
